ACACIA'S TERRIBLE WEEK ENDS WITH SENOIR EMPLOYEE DETAINED IN TANZANIA
Acacia Mining terrible week continued today after it emerged one of its senior employees in Tanzania was temporarily prevented from leaving the country,as part of an ongoing dispute between the company and the Eastern African nation's government over a US 190bn tax bill.
In an update to investors Acacia said the staff member was detained at Dar es salaam airport outside the country's largest city this morning and his passport seized.
Following legal intervention he was later released,the company said,and his passport returned.
The incident comes amid a bitter dispute between Acacia and the Tanzanian Government over an alleged unpaid tax bill dating back to 2000.
